A Mid-Courter With Big Ambitions: Meet Kiana Watson

At Bumrs, we love celebrating athletes who are committed to improving their game, pushing their limits and chasing big goals. Kiana Watson is that player - a driven young netballer with her sights set on representative netball and, one day, the opportunity to represent her state or Australia.

Kiana’s netball journey began at just five years old through NetSetGO. What started as a love for a fast-paced and exciting sport has developed into a serious passion for competition, skill development and becoming the best player she can be.

Kiana was first drawn to netball because of the speed, skill and teamwork involved. But as she has progressed through the sport, it has become the challenge of constantly improving that keeps her motivated.

She thrives on having something to work towards, whether that means developing a particular skill, improving her decision-making on court or building stronger connections with her teammates.

For Kiana, every training session is an opportunity to get better.

She understands that development doesn't happen overnight. It comes from consistently turning up, putting in the work and being willing to identify areas of her game that can improve.

Kiana's preferred positions are Centre (C) and Wing Attack (WA), where she can use her speed, court vision and decision-making to influence the game.

As a mid-courter, she enjoys being involved throughout the attacking and defensive transitions, linking play through the court and creating opportunities for her teammates.

Her ability to read the game and make quick decisions is an important part of her playing style.

Kiana has some big goals for her netball career.

In the short term, she is focused on helping the Renegades push towards a Grand Final.

Beyond this season, Kiana has her sights set on representative netball. Earning selection in a representative team is one of her personal goals, with the ultimate ambition of one day representing her state or even Australia.

It's an ambitious goal, but Kiana knows that reaching the next level starts with what she does now.

For her, that means continuing to train hard, improve her skills, build confidence and learn from every opportunity she gets on court.

Every athlete has someone who inspires them, and for Kiana, that player is Paige Hadley.

As a fellow mid-courter, Paige's skill, determination and dedication have made her a huge source of inspiration throughout Kiana's own netball journey.

One of Kiana's favourite netball memories is meeting Paige in person.

For an aspiring mid-courter who had watched and admired her for years, meeting one of her biggest inspirations was a moment she'll never forget. Paige shared advice about her own journey and encouraged Kiana to keep working towards her goals.

It was more than just meeting her favourite player, it was a reminder of what can be possible when you commit to your sport and keep pushing yourself.

What stands out about Kiana's journey is her desire to keep improving.

She's not just focused on playing the game, she's focused on developing as an athlete. From refining her passing and strengthening her court connections to improving her decision-making and working towards representative selection, Kiana has a clear vision for where she wants her netball to take her.

And while the goals are big, she still remembers why she started.

The friendships. The teamwork. The competition. The feeling of stepping onto court and giving everything she has.

That combination of passion and ambition is what makes Kiana an athlete to watch.

We're excited to follow her journey with the Renegades and see just how far her hard work, determination and love for the game can take her.
